Dark futurism is a style inspired by the dark and gritty genre of sci-fantasy. It depicts a dystopian used looking high-tech future. This style has a striking contrast to the ultra-clean and pristine future normally presented in most concepts of how the future would look. The look of Dark futurism is heavily influenced by movies such as Blade Runner, Alien and Minority Report. The late Syd Mead is credited with the development of this style and artwork.
