In-house project at GVA lighting with a development time of one month.
The Goal
This project’s aim was to provide an extensive range of versatile cantilever Brackets. This bracket system uses exiting surface mount brackets with two vertical or horizontal surface mount or ceiling mount cantilever brackets to achieve the desired luminaire placement and lighting trajectory required by lighting designer. This product line’s goal was to make a product that would be easier to install, more cost-effective to produce and allow for a shorten lead time while delivering a simple and attractive solution.
The Design Process
Part of this design’s goal was to help establish a brand identity using common elements from other products in GVA’s lineup. The most recognizable design is from the FL series of lights, as their triangular styling gives them a distinctive look. The idea was to bring that design language for the cantilever bracket system to better unify the two product lines.
Another requirement for this project was to keep the part count down. This was done by using a universal backplate that can be mounted both horizontally. In total, there were only five new parts that required stocking for a bracket system that allows for over five different mounting placements with lengths up to one meter long.
